Held at a new venue to rallying near Grafton Underwood, Kettering - the stages proved very slippy and rough, not best suited to a Tarmac spec car on slicks. Gravel tyres all-round and softer suspension were essential to be competative on the day, so the team settled for some serious testing of the new drivetrain - which held up exceptionally well.Depsite getting stuck behind traffic early on, numerous spins, collisions and cock-ups - the team ended up 2nd in class and 21st overall from an entry of 60 cars. Some highlights of the giggles below...
After repeated transmission problems last year, the team have now had the gearbox and diff stripped, modified and rebuilt - alongwith a new pair of custom driveshafts. We've also been busy dieting, with just under 100kg's stripped from the car since Snetterton last November. Approx 60 cars (eight 1400's) start a wet & foggy Tamdown Snetterton Stages on 20th November 2011. After a spin on oil during Stage 2, the crew run as high as 13th overall on Stage 5, until a driveshaft snaps on the start line of Stage 6.The crew limp at 30mph for 7 miles, before Des replaces the driveshaft in service, by which time the Puma had dropped over 3 minutes, down to 32nd overall. A couple of quick stages in the dark with the lamp pod see's the crew climb back to 23rd overall, 3rd in class and more importantly - a finish!

The team take the Sierra to Rockingham as we continue the rebuild. This local event was perfect to test the cars development so far - with most of the ignition system, sensors and more recently replaced.Weather was very wet Saturday, followed by a damp Sunday. Only taking hard, dry tyres did not help the cause (struggling to set top 20 stage times) until a visit to a gravel trap forced us from the results. The car was undamaged from its off, and the full rally distance was completed to continue the test - with the car not missing a beat all weekend. A few moments from Rockingham (and CJ's first rally!)...
