Ex-works Ford Sierra RS Cosworth for sale...

One of the first Ford Sierra RS Cosworths in production, it was sent to Fords Works Competitions department at Boreham, Essex in November 1985 and was registered for FH Peacocks Ford of Balham.

C234 HVW was then built as one of 7 'Securicor Sierra Challenge' cars for the 1986 season, to be driven by Chris Mellors (3-times National Champion) and sponsored by Victor International Plastics, finishing this one-make series a very close 2nd behind Phil Collins in sister car C240 HVW.

The car debuted the Sierra for Ford on the World Rally Championship (with 2 other Securicor cars) on the '86 Lombard RAC Rally being homologated in Group B for this event (and the '86 season) before Ford re-homologated the Sierra for Group A & Group N after the FIA banned Group B at the end of that year.

Once converted to Group N for 1987, the car was driven by various drivers including Bertie Fisher (5-time Irish Champion) on the Manx International (leading Group N, until an electrical problem on SS35).

In late '87 the car was bought by Gwyndaf Evans (1996 British Champion) and he entered his first of over 20 RAC rally's in November of that year (with Howard Davies co-driving) after testing it on the Bulldog rally. They comfortably lead the Production category of the World Championship qualifier for 3 days, until an excursion on the final day into a ditch in Kielder left the car well and truely stuck.

In 1988 Gwyndaf Evans (with preparation and event management supplied by Dennis Osbourne of DOME) competed in and won the Production category of the Shell Oils British Open Rally Championship and C234 HVW became the most successful Group N Sierra Cosworth in the History of British rallying.

In 1989 the car was sold to Don Bailey, campaigning it (again run by Dennis Osbourne) on 2 International championships, the Hewlett Packard Irish Tarmac Championship (winning Gp N) and the Shell Oils British Open Championship (2nd Gp N behind Pentti Arrikala) proving reliable with 10 finishes from 11 International starts.

During the 90's the car spent its life in Ireland, competing on various National & International tarmac rallies driven by the likes of Shane Braniff (Eurocables Belfast, before returning to the UK around 2003).

The car has been out of competition for the last 4 years and has undergone an extensive, photograpic rebuild to its current condition ('88 Ulster International livery) by MacArthur Motorsport, with the help of Dennis Osbourne of DOME, Roger Pitts of Brooklyn Ford and Lee Owen of Owen Developments.
